Privacy Policy

lakelvl.com is operated by LAKE LVL, LLC ("lakelvl", "we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the site and our lake level text alerts, and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Browsing the site. Lake pages need no account. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type to serve and protect the site.
• Text alerts. Your mobile number, the alerts you set, a record of your consent to receive texts (the time, your IP address and the wording you agreed to), and a log of the texts we send you and any replies.
• Staying signed in. After you enter a sign in code, your browser keeps a sign in token for up to 30 days so you can manage alerts without a new code each visit. Sign out on the alerts page removes it.
• Payments. Checkout is handled by Stripe. For text alerts we pass Stripe your verified mobile number so the payment is matched to the right plan. Stripe gives us your email, billing name and subscription status. We never see or store your full card number.
• Sponsorships. If you buy a sponsorship, Stripe collects your name, email and billing address, and we receive the business name and website you enter at checkout. We publish that name, website and any logo you email us on the lake page you sponsor.
• Contact form. The name, email and message you send us.
• Embedded gauges. If you place a lakelvl gauge on your own website, we log the website's host name so we know where our gauges appear.

How we use it

To run the site, send the alerts and sign in codes you ask for, bill your plan, answer your messages, prevent abuse, and keep the records carriers and the law require. We do not sell personal information.

Text messaging and your phone number

We use your mobile number only to send the texts you signed up for and to manage your plan. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt in data and consent are never shared with any third party, other than the messaging provider that delivers the texts (Twilio) acting on our behalf.

Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare (hosting, database, and automated security checks that protect the site from bots), Twilio (text delivery), Stripe (payments) and Web3Forms (contact form). We do not use advertising pixels, analytics cookies or session recording, and all scripts and fonts are served from lakelvl.com. Each handles data only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Alert settings and your number for as long as you use alerts. Consent and message logs are kept for up to four years after your last text, because carriers and regulators can ask us to show that a number opted in. Sign in codes are deleted within three days. Billing records for alerts and sponsorships are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your choices

You can remove alerts or cancel your plan at lakelvl.com/alerts, reply STOP to any text, or contact us to ask for a copy of your information or to have it deleted, except records we must keep as described above.

Children

lakelvl is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents can reach us through the contact form.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date above. Material changes to how we use phone numbers will be sent to alert subscribers before they take effect.
